The Banded Amegilla is back!

2 days ago someone in the Bee Aware of Your Native Bees group mentioned that a Banded Amegilla – Amegilla sp. was sighted in her Brisbane backyard garden.

Coincidentally yesterday while I was out in my backyard, I heard the familiar buzz near the Salvia patch. Yes – they are back for the new spring season.

For this shot I had my Lester Dine 105mm macro lens attached to a Pk-13 extension (27.5mm) as I was shooting the smaller Lipotriches & Lasioglossum bees. So with 1.3x magnification I can barely fit the Amegilla in the frame.
