I\u2019ll split this into two areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Photography related<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bees related<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Photography Related<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Books<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>John Shaw\u2019s Closeups in Nature: The Photographer\u2019s Guide to Techniques and Equipment by John Shaw. <em>This is a an old book made during the film photography days. However the foundational contents are still applicable today. I think you will also enjoy the way John Shaw explain things. You can read the book <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/details\/Closeups_In_Nature_Photographer\">on archive.org<\/a><em>.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>John Shaw\u2019s Guide to Digital Nature Photography by John Shaw. <em>This is a more general book on nature photography. I highly recommend the section on macro. <\/em>Read it before you search the internet or watch videos (of amateurs and hobbysts) on Youtube. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lester Lefkowitz&#8217;s Manual of Close-Up Photography. <em>This is the 1979 publication so can be had for cheap. Mine was a used version from a library. Just like John Shaw&#8217;s book, although the book was made during the film era, the techniques are still applicable. This is especially true for me as I use vintage macro lenses. If you&#8217;re looking for something newer then check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrophotographer.net\/maacro-books\">2023 publications<\/a> (I haven&#8217;t read them yet)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Sites &amp; Portal<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.photomacrography.net\/forum\/\">Photomacrography<\/a> \u2013 online forum for enthusiasts. There\u2019s a wealth of knowledge shared in forum. This tiny booklet is very handy and useful to help identify solitary &amp; native bees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tocal.nsw.edu.au\/publications\/animals\/australian-native-bees\">NSW DPI AgGuide for Australian Native Bees<\/a> \u2013 I bought the e-book because there\u2019s interactive contents (i.e. video, sound etc). I think this book is suitable for beginners like me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beeawarekids.com.au\/the-australian-bee-genera.html\">The Australian bee genera: An annotated, user friendly key <\/a>by Tobias Smith<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publish.csiro.au\/book\/7388\/\">A Guide to Native Bees of Australia<\/a> by Terry Houston. <em>Note: this is a great resource particularly but perhaps a bit \u2018too technical\u2019 for someone like me.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Sites \/ Portal<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/beeawareofyournativebees\">Bee Aware of Your Native Bees (Australia)<\/a> Facebook Group administered by Megan Halcroft (Dr). If you use facebook, this is a useful group to get some help with identifying bees from the experts and the enjoy bee photos submitted by group members. I attended the workshop in 2021 and it was really amazing!
